Board Meeting August 10, 2020
The Little McDonald Kerbs Lake Association board invited beach captains to meet with board members outdoors at Bierdeman’s storage shed at 4:00 pm. Present were board members Angela Willenbring, Jim McLeod, Sue Eckes, David Dunning, Garry Griffin, Bruce Wessman, Joan Covington and Kathy Anderson. Brad Helmeke was absent. Beach captains present were Terry Marthaler (Beach #1), Donna Johnson-Hutchinson (#2), Carol Raby (#3), Phil and Robin Glawe (#4), Cathy Bjerklund (#5), Marcia McEachran (#6), Carol Wessman (#7), Ralph Logan (#8), and Renee Anderson (#9). Not present were Al Krueger (#10) and Don Bernauer (#11).
A. Willenbring welcomed the beach captains and introductions were made. She presented the Welcome Packets/updated binders, explaining they were to be given to new residents on the lake by the beach captains and a board member living nearby. A. Willenbring checked with the county assessor’s office finding at least 9 new residents as of the first of the year. Those present indicated that the number was now 11 or 12. J. McLeod explained how to pass the binders out and welcome new people, inviting them to join the association. Beach captain Ralph Logan proposed the idea of giving the new binder to all members but the board members felt that through the years most materials in the binder have been offered at the annual meetings, at the chamber and on-line so most members have these materials, just not necessarily in the binder. A. Willenbring reminded those present of the moratorium on beach repair indicating a notice regarding this is in the binder. Permits will be issued when the water level of the lakes reaches 12” or less from OHW. Other discussion included concerns presented by the captains with Chinese Mystery snails due to large amounts washing up on beaches. The DNR indicates there is no solution to this problem other than raking them up and discarding them. Trash along the roadway was also mentioned with discussion of everyone trying to be more responsible and policing their areas. A gift certificate was presented by the board to Sue Eckes for her years of volunteer service with the binders, mailings, etc. A “thank you” was also extended to the beach captains for passing out the binders, bringing concerns to the board and sharing other information. The captains were then given their directories and updates to deliver and were excused.
The board meeting was then called to order by A. Willenbring at 4:40pm

New Business:

Moving forward, whenever someone requests a new binder they will get all the new information. Cozies will be given out to current members at the next annual meeting. Updated directory information is given only to paid members. New membership cards will now go to B. Wessman when D. Dunning receives them instead of J. Covington. Joan will update everything up to this time. Updates and emails will now be directed to B. Wessman.
Website update:
Board members were able to review the new website for the LMKLA at littlemcdonaldkerbs.org. In addition to the purpose of the association, the newsletter, a list of board members, minutes of the meetings and photos, there will be a copy of the by-laws and a statement of the moratorium on beach repair from the county. Changes and additions can be made in the future as needed.
Logo:
A “new face” for our binder cover and the top of the newsletter needs to be designed. We will work with Ryan De La Rosa on this and plan to have it completed soon. S. Eckes used her own supplies and papers to develop the Welcome Binders. This cost needs to be charged to the lake association and the Photo Magic bill should be submitted also.
Beach captain issues or concerns:
A great turnout from our beach captains was made today and all board members felt it was beneficial to share information in person. This should be done yearly at the May meeting so we can have updates prior to the Annual Meeting. An e-mail to the beach captains will be sent by A. Willenbring regarding this as well as letting the captains know that when they greet new residents with the new binders, the residents should be encouraged to fill out the address information even if they chose not to be members in order to have correct identification of property around the lakes. S. Eckes will make up 20 more binders so they are available during the year as new owners/residents become identified.
New idea for the neighborhood:
Roadside litter is a concern. All members should be reminded about concerns for littering around the lake and hopefully will take time when needed to police their area in order to maintain a beautiful lake environment.
Other Business:
None
Motion to Adjourn: J. McLeod made a motion to adjourn and J. Covington seconded. Carries 8/0.
Meeting adjourned at 5:35.
